The Northern Athletic Centre is located at 240 St Leonards Road, St Leonards.
The track surface is red Rekortan synthetic, resurfaced in 2017. The javelin, high jump, long jump and pole vault run ups are surfaced in the same material. The venue has 2 shot put circles and a combined hammer/discus circle with World Athletics (WA) standard hammer cage. There is an additional discus circle without a net. There are 2 high jump pits at the southern end of the ground. There are 3 long jump pits located in front of the grand stand, as well as pole vault facilities. The main javelin run up is located at the northern end of the stadium with another at the southern end.
The track is an 8 lane 400m all weather track with a 10 lane 100m straight on the grandstand side. The line markings are to WA standard and include markings for all WA events. The track includes steeplechase equipment
There are power connections on the inside of the track near the finish line and on the outside of the track in a similar position.
The venue is lit by 18 lights which operate on two levels (training and competition).
The Northern Athletic Centre is equipped with designated areas for electronic timing equipment as well as announcers.
